Chris is a licensed Realtor®. He received a BA in Landscape Architecture from the University of Minnesota in 1986. He minored in Spanish and studied at Cuernavaca, Mexico. He is 2004 graduate of the Theophilus Divinity School (Minneapolis) Spirit Program and completed the Gerber Business School’s (California) business coaching and training program. Chris is a licensed private pilot.
Before he came to his real estate career, Chris worked for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and for the US Army Corp of Engineers. He was a successful printing broker, averaging over 50% gross profit each year, for ten years. He was responsible for selling and servicing two major, long-term printing contracts, which assured a high profit margin and continued business relationships. Chris sold his printing business in 2000 and started an internet printing company.
Chris’ background and talent in art and architecture was useful in his efforts to purchase and improve several investment properties. He remodeled and restored them to original condition and sold them for a profit.
Chris and his fiancée came to Santa Fe about two years ago to visit her mother. “I instantly fell in love with this place,” he writes, “because it combines all of my loves: the natural environment; the Spanish, Indian and Anglo cultures; the landscape architecture reminiscent of great city of the world yet distinctly its own; the cosmopolitan, yet small-town feel; the history and numerous cultural events.
“When we got back to Minnesota, I couldn’t get Santa Fe out of my mind. So we returned again to visit. Six months later I sold everything and moved here. I haven’t had a bad day since.”
Chris became a gallery consultant at the Robert Nichols gallery last summer. The gallery specializes in contemporary American Indian and American pottery. “Working there spurred me to get more involved in the city,” he says.
As a real estate professional, Chris says, “When I see a family happy in their home and enjoying their surroundings, this is what really excites me. I want to share my love for Santa Fe with people from all over the world. I want to help protect and continue this city’s unique and great heritage. I hope to use my art and architect’s eye to inspire my clients to discover Santa Fe—its dynamic and diverse real estate market, as well as its many other unique features.”
Chris has a favorite quote, from Steve Jobs, which sums up his life philosophy: “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. . . .Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And, most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
